Inactivity and heroes

Lets say that you have heroes garrsionned in someones city right, and they go red, and eventually disapear from inactivity... the heroes you garrisoned in there. do they vanish too?

Good question I've never dealt with a situation like that but I'm curious to see if you get any responses from somebody with knowledge about the topic.
